Hugh Hanley has been singing with young children for over twenty years in his work as an early childhood educator, music specialist and entertainer.  His work has helped him gain an understanding of young children as developing music makers and a familiarity with the environments in which they play and learn.  He draws from a wide and varied repertoire of songs, fingerplays, and music activities that are appropriate, accessible, and highly engaging.  Hugh has learned all of the material he uses in his work from folk traditions, children, and their teachers and parents.   Please pre-register.

Music Together with Alex Andrews – Ages 0 to 5:  Tuesday, July 7 and Wednesday, July 22 at 3:45 PM

This drop-in series features music and movement and a story with Alex Andrews of Apple Country Music Together.

The Magic of Bonaparte – All Ages:  Tuesday, July 21 from 3:00 to 4:00 PM
Bonaparte is “ Boston ’s Hottest Magician”; his dazzling, interactive style of magic has captured the hearts and provoked the laughter of thousands of children and adults around the world.  Children of all ages will be amazed and astounded as they witness objects mysteriously change places and change colors – right before their eyes!  Items Impossibly Vanish and Reappear – visual magic at its best!  Please pre-register.

Science Magic – Ages 7 and up:  Wednesday, July 29 from 3:15 to 3:45 PM
Ever wonder how magic tricks really work?  This program investigates the science behind the "magic" of several classic magic tricks.  You might learn how to snatch a tablecloth without disturbing the items on top, make a balloon fireproof, and use electromagnetism to defy gravity.  For the grand finale, our educator will demonstrate how science can make it safe to lie down on a real bed of nails.  (Program content is geared toward school-age children and up.  Preschoolers are welcome to attend with their families and will generally enjoy watching, but they will be too young to grasp the science behind the presentations.  There are also some loud noises that might startle them.)  Please pre-register.

Jim Cruise, a.k.a. “The Spoon Man” – All Ages:  Wednesday, August 5 from 4:00 to 4:45 PM
Come and get “SPOONED” at the library – which is a whole lot better than getting forked or knifed.  The “Spoon Man” has a totally clean act.  He never uses dirty silverware.  His program contains several outrageous impressions such as Glen Miller and Elvis combining together, A Heavy Metal Spoon Player and A Rap Spoon Player.  He has an audience sing-a-long competition.  He creates a Mountain Band out of members of the audience.  You may also see him play forks and knives.  In addition, if that is still not enough, everyone has an opportunity to get “SPOONED.”  Please pre-register.

Wild Animals of the Farm – Grades 1 and up: Tuesday, August 11 ~ 2 half-hour sessions, starting at: 2:30 and 3:15 PM
Farms provide homes for domestic animals as well as habitats for wild animals. Meet wildlife that use the fields, forests, and barns as their home.  The Audubon Ark Outreach program will be bringing two animals to the library for this presentation.  Since these are live animals, enrollment in each half-hour session is strictly limited to 30 child participants (accompanying adults may also attend).  Please sign up for only one session.

Summer Reading Finale Picnic – All Ages:  Wed., August 19 from 12 to 1 PM
