Hugh Hanley has been singing with young children for
over twenty years in his work as an early childhood educator, music
specialist and entertainer. His
work has helped him gain an understanding of young children as developing
music makers and a familiarity with the environments in which they play
and learn. He draws from a
wide and varied repertoire of songs, fingerplays, and music activities
that are appropriate, accessible, and highly engaging.
Hugh has learned all of the material he uses in his work from folk
traditions, children, and their teachers and parents.

is “
Boston
’s Hottest

change places and change colors – right before their eyes!

Science
Magic – Ages 7 and up: Wednesday,
July 29 from
3:15
to
3:45 PM
Ever
wonder how magic tricks really work? This
program investigates the science behind the "magic" of several
classic magic tricks. You
might learn how to snatch a tablecloth without disturbing the items on
top, make a balloon fireproof, and use electromagnetism to defy gravity.
For the grand finale, our educator will demonstrate how science can
make it safe to lie down on a real bed of nails.
(Program content is geared toward school-age children and up.
Preschoolers are welcome to attend with their families and will
generally enjoy watching, but they will be too young to grasp the science
behind the presentations. There
are also some loud noises that might startle them.)
Please pre-register.
Jim
Cruise, a.k.a. “The Spoon Man” – All Ages:
Wednesday, August 5 from
4:00
to
4:45
PM
Come
and get “SPOONED” at the library – which is a whole lot better than
getting forked or knifed. The
“Spoon Man” has a totally clean act.
He never uses dirty silverware.
His program contains several outrageous impressions such as Glen
Miller and Elvis combining together, A Heavy Metal Spoon Player and A Rap
Spoon Player. He has an
audience sing-a-long competition. He
creates a Mountain Band out of members of the audience.
You may also see him play forks and knives.
In addition, if that is still not enough, everyone has an
opportunity to get “SPOONED.” Please
pre-register.
