Maker Day at the Harvard Public Library!
October 27, 2016
The Harvard Public Library will be hosting its first Teen Maker Day on Thursday, October 13th from 2:45-3:45pm in Volunteers Hall. Teens in grades 6-12 are welcome to drop in and demonstrate their creativity by exploring different aspects of “making” with both craft materials and technology.
Maker Day is the Harvard Library’s way of becoming involved with the “Maker Movement” that is sweeping across the nation, promoting life-long learning, creativity, and knowledge of basic crafts and technology. Once a month, Volunteers Hall will be transformed into a Makerspace, with 3 or 4 stations where students can try something new and just create.
This month’s maker stations will include:
- Create with Duct Tape
- Locker Magnets
- Bookmark Creatures
- Green Screen Photobooth
Many thanks go to the members of the Middle School Advisory Board and the Teen Advisory Board for brainstorming activities for the first Maker Day! Have a Maker Station idea? We’d love to hear it! Email Jill Hayes at jhayes@cwmars.org.
